Old Fashioned Beef Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. Gold Medal flour
    1 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    2 lb. beef stew
    2 Tbsp. shortening
    6 c. hot water
    3 medium potatoes
    1 medium turnip
    4 carrots
    1 green pepper
    1 c. celery
    1/2 c. onions
    2 beef bouillon cubes
    1 bay leaf
Preparation
    Mix flour, salt and pepper.
    Coat meat with flour mixture. Brown meat in shortening.
    Add water.
    Heat to boiling.
    Reduce heat, cover, simmer 2 hours.
    Stir in remaining ingredients. Simmer 30 minutes until vegetables are tender.
    Makes 6 servings.
