Smothered Beef And Rice - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. boneless beef (chuck, round or shank)
    1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
    1/2 c. water
    1 clove garlic, chopped
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. sugar
    1/4 tsp. dry mustard
    1/8 tsp. pepper
    1 lb. small onions, peeled
    4 c. hot cooked rice
Preparation
    Have a large skillet or Dutch oven at roasting heat.
    Cube meat and add to pan; meat will stick to pan, but will loosen as soon as it has seared.
    Turn meat cubes and brown well.
    Reduce heat to low, or finishing; add tomato sauce, water and seasonings. Cover and cook 45 minutes; add onions.
    Replace cover and continue to cook for an additional 50 minutes over low, or finishing heat.
    Serve meat and sauce over seasoned hot rice. Serves 6.
