Ingredients

1 c. soft bread crumbs
2 c. scalded milk
2 Tbsp. melted butter
2 large egg yolks
1/4 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Pour scalded milk over bread crumbs.
Add melted butter and allow to stand 15 minutes.
Beat yolks slightly and add sugar, vanilla and salt.
Blend well and add to bread mixture.
Beat until smooth.
Turn into greased baking dish and bake in slow oven at 300\u00b0 for 45 to 50 minutes or until custard is firm.
Remove from oven; cool.
Spread top of pudding with the following meringue and return to oven.
Cook as directed and serve warm.
