Mama Annie'S Peanut Candy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. granulated sugar
    1 c. dark corn syrup
    1/2 c. water
    1/4 c. butter or margarine
    1 3/4 c. peanuts
    1 tsp. baking soda
Preparation
    Combine sugar, syrup and water in a 3-quart saucepan.
    Heat until sugar dissolves.
    When mixture boils, add butter.
    Stir often after it reaches 230\u00b0 on a candy thermometer.
    Add nuts at 280\u00b0 if raw (add nuts last if roasted).
    Stir constantly until mixture reaches 300\u00b0 or the hard crack stage.
    Add baking soda and stir well.
    Pour onto two greased cookie sheets and spread to desired thinness.
    Loosen candy from cookie sheets as soon as cooled.
    Break into pieces.
    Yields 2 pounds.
