Sweet And Sour Spareribs - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 1/2 lb. lean ribs (pork or beef)
    2 large onions, sliced
    2/3 c. brown sugar
    1 c. vinegar
    2 Tbsp. soy sauce
    2 Tbsp. water
    1 1/3 c. canned pineapple juice
    2/3 c. water
    1 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    2 Tbsp. cornstarch
Preparation
    Cut ribs into 2 x 3-inch pieces and place close together in a broiler pan.
    Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
    Broil, turning once, until brown on both sides.
    Saute onions 2 minute sin a 5-quart roaster pan.
    Add brown sugar, vinegar, soy sauce, pineapple juice, water, salt and pepper.
    Cover ribs with mixture and cover pan. Simmer over low heat 2 hours.
    Remove ribs.
    Thicken sauce with cornstarch dissolved in water.
    Serve at once over hot, fluffy rice.
    Serves 6.
