Vermont Style Baked Beans (Lima) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. (2 1/2 c.) large dry limas
    6 c. water
    8 whole cloves
    1 large onion, peeled (leave whole)
    1/2 c. maple syrup
    1/2 c. catsup
    1 tsp. salt
    2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1 bay leaf
    1/4 lb. salt pork, cut in pieces
Preparation
    Rinse beans, place in saucepan.
    Add water; stick cloves into onion; add limas and boil 5 minutes.
    Pour into 3-quart casserole. Let stand 1 hour.
    Stir in remaining ingredients.
    Bake in slow oven at 300\u00b0 for 2 1/2 hours.
    Uncover and bake 30 minutes more, stirring once or twice.
