Squash Patties - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 egg, beaten
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    dash of pepper
    2 Tbsp. finely chopped onion and green pepper
    1 c. cooked mashed yellow squash
    1/2 c. self-rising flour or 1/2 c. plain flour plus 1 Tbsp. baking powder
    hot salad oil
Preparation
    Combine ingredients except salad oil.
    Mix well.
    Drop mixture by tablespoon in hot oil in a large skillet.
    Flatten patties to 1/2-inch thickness.
    Cook to golden brown; turn and brown other side.
