White Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. milk
    3/4 c. sugar
    1 Tbsp. cornstarch
    1/2 c. cake flour (minus 1 Tbsp.)
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    2 egg whites
    Cool Whip
Preparation
    Cook together the first 5 ingredients, stirring constantly, until it thickens.
    Add vanilla.
    Beat 2 egg whites until stiff and fold into first mixture before it cools.
    Pour into baked pie shell.
    After filling cools, spread a layer of Cool Whip on top of pie filling and sprinkle top with chopped nuts or halved maraschino cherries.
