Corn Fritters - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 egg
    1/2 c. milk
    1 1/4 c. corn meal
    1 Tbsp. peanut oil
    1 1/2 c. unsifted flour
    1 Tbsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
    1 dash of pepper
    1 dash of nutmeg
Preparation
    Beat egg in a large bowl. Stir in milk, corn meal and 1 tablespoon of oil.
    Add and beat in flour, baking powder, nutmeg, salt and pepper.
    Drop tablespoons of the mixture into deep or shallow hot oil (375\u00b0).
    Fry until golden brown, 2 to 3 minutes on each side.
    Drain on paper towels.
    Serve hot.
    Serve with a syrup, if desired.
    Makes about 4 fritters per person.
