Black Walnut Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c butter
    1/2 c shortening
    2 c sugar
    5 egg yolks
    2 c sifted plain flour
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 c butter milk
    1 tsp walnut flavoring
    1 7 oz can flaked coconut
    1 c black walnuts
    5 beaten egg whites
Preparation
    Cream sugar, butter, shortening, and egg yolks.
    Beat until smooth. combine dry ingredients.
    Add to creamed mixture.
    Add buttermilk and flavoring mix well.
    Add coconut and nuts. mix well. Gently fold in beaten egg whites with a wooden spoon.
    Grease and flour three 9 inch cake pans.
    Pour batter in.
    Bake at 325\u00b0 for 20 to 25 minutes.
    Let Cool.
