Cherry Torte - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 egg whites
    2 c. broken saltine crackers
    3/4 c. chopped walnuts
    3/4 tsp. cream of tartar
    2 tsp. vanilla
    2 c. sugar
Preparation
    Beat egg whites; add cream of tartar, then sugar slowly.
    Add vanilla.
    Break crackers with hands.
    Fold crackers and chopped nuts into egg whites.
    Put into greased 9 x 12-inch or 10 x 13-inch pan.
    Bake 25 minutes at 350\u00b0.
    Cool.
    Top with Dream Whip, then spoon on ready prepared pie filling cherries.
    Put into refrigerator.
    Serves 12.
