Ingredients

1 box vanilla wafers, crushed (by hand or in food processor)
2 c. confectioners sugar
2 sq. unsweetened chocolate, melted
1/2 c. butter
3 eggs, separated
1 tsp. vanilla
1/8 tsp. salt
1/2 gal. French vanilla ice cream, left at room temperature until softened
Preparation

Put 1/2 vanilla wafer crumbs on bottom of 9 x 13-inch pan.
Mix sugar with butter and chocolate.
Add egg yolks, one at a time, beating well.
Add vanilla and salt.
Beat egg whites until stiff. Fold into chocolate mixture.
Pour it over crumbs.
Spread ice cream over chocolate mixture.
Top with remaining vanilla wafer crumbs.
Cover and put in freezer overnight before serving.
