Chocolate Chip Meringue Bars - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1/3 c. shortening
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 c. brown sugar, divided
    1 tsp. vanilla
    3 Tbsp. water
    2 beaten egg yolks
    2 beaten egg whites
    6 oz. pkg. chocolate chips
Preparation
    Sift flour, salt and baking soda; set aside.
    Combine and beat until light shortening, sugar and 1/2 cup brown sugar.
    Add vanilla, water and beaten egg yolks.
    Add flour mixture.
    Beat until smooth.
    Spread in a greased 9 x 13-inch pan.
    Sprinkle chocolate chips over top.
    Beat 2 egg whites until frothy. Gradually add 1/2 cup brown sugar; blend until sugar is dissolved. Spread over batter.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes.
