Philadelphia'S Barrel Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 gal. size glass jar filled with whole or cut into spears cucumbers
    5 tsp. sugar
    7 tsp. cannery salt
    1 1/2 c. vinegar
    1 1/2 heads (not cloves) crushed, fresh garlic
    3 to 4 sticks (at least 16-inches high) fresh dill with heads (but not yet seeded)
Preparation
    Cover to rim with boiling water.
    Cover and let stand on kitchen counter at least 24 hours!
    Refrigerate and indulge in several days.
