Old Fashioned Tea Cakes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 3/4 c. sugar
    1 c. shortening or oil
    2 eggs
    3 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1/2 tsp. salt (omit if using self-rising flour)
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 grated lemon rinds
Preparation
    Cream butter and most of sugar.
    Add eggs, one at a time.
    Add remaining ingredients.
    Knead dough on floured board.
    Place in bowl and chill.
    Spread reserved sugar on rolled out dough and roll lightly before cutting out.
    Place on well-greased cookie sheet.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 10 minutes or until lightly brown.
