Seven Minute Frosting - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 egg whites
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. water
    1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
    1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
Preparation
    Put egg whites, sugar, water and cream of tartar in the top part of a double boiler over boiling water.
    Beat with electric beater at high speed until mixture is thick and creamy, about 8 minutes.
    Remove from heat and continue beating until very smooth and glossy.
    Add vanilla and beat again to blend.
    Spread on cake. Enough for tops and sides of an 8-inch or 9-inch 2-layer cake. Must be prepared just before cake is ready to be frosted.
