French Onion Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    beef broth (1 c. per serving)
    1 large onion
    1 c. brandy (or beer)
    1/4 c. sweet vermouth
Preparation
    Saute large onion in butter; do not brown.
    Keep in liquid. Add brandy (or beer) when pan is hot.
    Heat broth and add onions with liquid.
    Add sweet vermouth.
    Top with croutons and Parmesan cheese.
