Cornmeal Batter Fried Chicken - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (2 1/2 to 3 lb.) broiler-fryer chicken, cut up
    2/3 c. all-purpose flour
    1/3 c. cornmeal
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. garlic salt
    1/2 tsp. poultry seasoning
    1/8 tsp. ground red pepper
    1 egg, beaten
    1/2 c. milk
    2 Tbsp. cooking oil or shortening
Preparation
    Skin chicken, if desired.
    Rinse chicken.
    In a large saucepan, cover chicken with lightly salted water.
    Bring to boil; reduce heat.
    Cover and simmer for 20 minutes.
    Drain.
    Pat chicken pieces dry with paper towels.
