Apple Ginger Bread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 c. whole bran cereal
1/2 c. light molasses
1/2 c. shortening
1/4 c. boiling water
1 egg
6 c. thin sliced apples
1/4 c. melted butter
1 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. cloves
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 c. light corn syrup
Preparation

Mix cereal, molasses, shortening and water.
Add egg and beat with beater.
Let stand 5 minutes.
Sift flour, soda, powder and spices and salt.
Add cereal mixture.
Stir until blended.
Pour into 8 x 8-inch pan.
Bake 20 minutes in 350\u00b0 oven.
Arrange apples in layers over top.
Brush with mixture of butter and syrup.
Bake 10 minutes.
Remove from oven.
Brush apples with milk and broil just a few minutes.
