Chow Chow - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. thinly sliced cucumbers
    2 c. chopped green pepper
    2 c. chopped cabbage
    2 c. sliced onion
    2 c. chopped green tomatoes
    1 1/2 c. salt
    2 qt. water
    2 c. fresh baby lima beans
    2 c. cut fresh green beans
    2 c. sliced carrots
    2 c. water
    1 qt. white vinegar (5% acidity)
    4 c. sugar
    2 c. water
    1/4 c. mustard seed
    2 Tbsp. celery seed
    1 Tbsp. plus 1 tsp. ground turmeric
Preparation
    Combine cucumbers, green pepper, cabbage, onion and tomatoes in a large nonmetal container.
    Dissolve salt in 2 quarts water; pour over vegetables.
    Cover; let stand 8 to 10 hours.
    Drain well.
    Cook lima beans, green beans and carrots in 2 cups water for 20 minutes, or until crisp-tender; drain.
    Combine all vegetables and remaining ingredients in a Dutch oven; boil 10 minutes.
