Blond Brownies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2/3 c. shortening
    1 lb. light brown sugar
    3 eggs
    2 2/3 c. sifted plain flour
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
    1 c. chopped pecans
    1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate bits
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Blend shortening and sugar; add eggs, one at a time.
    Mix flour, baking powder and salt, adding slowly and blending well. Add vanilla, nuts and chocolate bits; mix well.
    Batter will be thick.
    Spread evenly in a greased and floured 9 x 13-inch baking pan.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 25 minutes.
