Sweet Potato-Chocolate Nut Cake - cooking recipe

4 oz. semi-sweet chocolate
1 tsp. vanilla
3 c. flour
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ginger
1/4 tsp. cloves
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. salt
2 c. mashed sweet potatoes
1 1/2 c. vegetable oil
4 eggs
1 c. chopped nuts
Preparation

Butter and flour a 10-inch tube pan. Place chocolate and vanilla in double boiler and melt until smooth. Sift dry ingredients and set aside. Beat oil and sweet potatoes together, then beat in eggs one at a time until well blended. Slowly add dry ingredients; mix well and stir in nuts. Put 1/3 of mixture in another bowl and stir in chocolate. Alternate batters in tube pan (like a marble cake). With a knife, cut through the 2 batters to swirl together.
