Hard Candy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1 c. water
    3/4 c. light Karo
    1/2 tsp. flavoring oil
    food coloring
Preparation
    Mix sugar, water and Karo in a large saucepan.
    Stir over medium heat until sugar dissolves.
    Boil without stirring, until temperature reaches 300\u00b0.
    Remove from heat.
    After boiling ceases, stir in flavoring and a few drops of food coloring.
    Pour into a greased 9 x 9 pan. Let cool while greasing the table top and scissors.
    Pour candy onto table top.
    Have one person cut it with the scissors, into strips, while others cut the strips into candy pieces.
    When done, put candy into a colander and sprinkle with powdered sugar, or pour onto lightly greased cookie sheet. Cool and break into pieces.
    Dust with powdered sugar.
