Apple Dumplings With Pineapple Sauce - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. flour
    1 tsp. salt
    2/3 c. shortening
    1/2 c. milk
    6 cooking apples
    sugar
    cinnamon
    nutmeg
    butter
Preparation
    Sift flour with salt.
    Cut in shortening until like coarse crumbs.
    Add milk and stir just enough to blend.
    Turn out on floured surface and roll 1/4-inch thick.
    Cut in 5-inch squares. Pare apples.
    Cut in eighths.
    Place about 6 pieces on each square.
    Sprinkle generously with sugar, cinnamon
    and nutmeg. Dot with butter.
    Fold corners to center and pinch edges together securely with fork.
    Arrange dumplings in large greased pan and pour over pineapple sauce.
    Bake in a moderately hot oven (375\u00b0 to 400\u00b0) until pastry is brown and apples tender.
