Divinity Drops - cooking recipe

1 c. sugar
2 egg whites
1/2 tsp. grated lemon peel
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1/2 c. chopped dates
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Preheat oven to 250\u00b0.
Sift sugar.
Whip egg whites until stiff.
Add the sugar very slowly, whipping constantly.
Add vanilla and lemon peel.
Fold in nuts and dates.
Drop the batter from a spoon onto a lightly greased cookie sheet and shape into cones.
Bake until the drops are partly dry and hold their shape, about 45 to 60 minutes.
Remove from sheet while still hot.
Allow to cool.
Makes about 45 cookies.
