Chicken Gumbo - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 frying chicken
5 slices bacon
flour
2 qt. cold water
1 c. sliced okra
2 c. tomatoes
1/2 c. corn
1 c. Irish potatoes, cubed
1 small onion, diced
2 egg whites for each c. of stock
1/3 c. water
1 qt. boiling water
Preparation

Cut a chicken for frying and fry out bacon slices.
Remove bacon.
Dredge chicken with flour; saute in bacon grease.
Put 2 quarts cold water in soup kettle with sliced okra, tomatoes, corn, potatoes (cubed) and diced onion.
Boil all together until done. Pour 1 quart boiling water over chicken and boil until meat falls off bone.
Remove chicken; chop fine and add water in which it was cooked and chopped chicken to the vegetables.
Thicken, season and serve.
