Tortilla Soup - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 chopped onion
1 (4 oz.) can drained, chopped green chiles
3 cloves minced garlic
2 Tbsp. olive or vegetable oil
1 c. peeled, chopped tomatoes
1 (10 1/2 oz.) can beef consomme
1 (10 1/2 oz.) can chicken broth
2 1/4 c. water
3/4 c. tomato sauce
1 tsp. ground cumin
2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 Tbsp. steak sauce
1 tsp. chili powder
1 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
1/2 green and 1/2 red pepper, chopped
3 handfuls corn tortilla chips
1/4 c. shredded Monterey Jack cheese
Preparation

Saute onion, chiles, garlic and peppers in oil until soft. Add tomatoes, consomme, broth, water, tomato sauce, chili powder, salt, pepper, Worcestershire and steak sauce.
Bring soup to a boil, lower heat to simmer and cook, covered, for 1 hour.
Add tortillas and cheese and simmer 10 minutes more.
