Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1 gal. small cucumbers
8 small onions, thinly sliced
2 green peppers, cut in strips
1/2 c. salt
3 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
2 Tbsp. mustard seed
1 tsp. celery seed
1 qt. vinegar

Preparation

Wash cucumbers, sliced very thin.
Combine onions, pepper and salt.
Mix with 1-quart crushed ice and let stand 1 hour, then wash salt off.
Combine remaining ingredients.
Bing to a boil, pack in jars.
