Bean Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. mixed beans (13 different kinds)
    2 qt. water
    ham or ham hock
    1 large onion, chopped
    1 large can tomatoes, chopped
    1 pod red pepper OR 1 tsp. chili powder OR 1 small can chopped green chiles
    juice of one lemon
    salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
    Wash beans, cover with water and soak overnight.
    Add the 2 quarts water and ham or ham hock.
    Bring to a boil.
    Simmer 2 1/2 to 3 hours.
    Add all other ingredients and simmer another 30 minutes.
