Layer Lettuce Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 head lettuce, broken up
    1 c. celery, diced
    4 hard-boiled eggs, sliced
    1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen peas (raw) *
    1/2 c. green pepper, diced
    1 medium onion, diced
    8 slices bacon, fried crisp and crumbled
    1 c. mayonnaise (or more, if needed)
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    4 oz. Cheddar cheese, coarsely grated
Preparation
    Put broken-up lettuce in 9 x 13-inch dish.
    Layer rest of ingredients in order given.
    Add sugar to mayonnaise.
    Spread on top as frosting. Top with cheese.
    Cover and store in refrigerator 8 to 12 hours.
    Garnish with pieces of crisp bacon.
