Italian Cream Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. buttermilk
    1/2 c. Crisco
    2 c. sugar
    1 small can coconut
    1 tsp. soda
    2 c. sifted flour
    1 stick oleo
    5 eggs, separated
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. pecans
Preparation
    Cream sugar, Crisco and oleo; add egg yolks, one at a time. Add milk and flour a little at a time.
    Stir in vanilla.
    Gently stir in pecans and coconut.
    Combine soda and buttermilk and let stand a few minutes.
    Beat egg whites until stiff.
    Fold in cream mixture.
    Cook at 325\u00b0 in 3 (9-inch) pans for 25 minutes.
