Chocolate Syrup Brownies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. walnuts
    1 c. sifted flour
    1/4 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 c. soft butter or margarine
    3/4 c. brown sugar, packed
    1 large egg
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 (5.5 oz.) can chocolate syrup
Preparation
    Chop 3/4 cup walnuts coarsely; chop remaining 1/4 cup fine for tops of brownies.
    Re-sift flour with baking powder.
    Combine butter, sugar, egg and vanilla.
    Beat well.
    (Mixture will appear slightly curdled.)
    Stir in chocolate syrup then flour mixture. Add coarsely chopped walnuts.
    Turn into greased 8-inch square baking pan; spread level.
    Sprinkle with finely chopped walnuts. Bake at 350\u00b0 about 50 minutes until top springs back when lightly touched and pick inserted in center comes out clean.
    Cool in pan. Cut into squares or bars and serve.
