Seven Layer Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 medium head lettuce, chopped or broken
    1 c. celery, cut crosswise
    1/2 c. sweet onions, chopped
    1 c. bell peppers, chopped
    1 can water chestnuts, drained and sliced
    1 box frozen peas (may be cooked, if preferred)
    1 c. mayonnaise
    1 (8 oz.) carton sour cream
    1 pkg. dry Italian dressing mix
    6 oz. Parmesan cheese
    6 strips bacon, fried crisp and crumbled or canned bacon bits
Preparation
    Layer
    first
    six ingredients in order in a salad bowl. Spread mayonnaise
    mixture

    on top as frosting. Top with Parmesan cheese and bacon.
    Refrigerate 24 hours.\tToss before serving.
