Date Roll - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. butter or margarine
    1 c. Pet milk
    1 c. chopped dates
    1 c. chopped pecans
    1 c. coconut
Preparation
    Over medium-low heat, put sugar, butter and Pet milk in pan. Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture forms soft ball in cold water. Add dates, stirring frequently, until candy thickens, bubbles, hiss and mixture follows spoon around pan.
    Add pecans and coconut and continue cooking until mixture has consistency of soft cookie dough.
    Pour in a long roll onto wet, cold lint-free cloth.
    (Linen dish towel works good.)
    Roll and let cool. Remove cloth and slice candy crosswise.
