German Chocolate Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 pkg. German sweet chocolate
    1/2 c. boiling water
    1 c. butter or margarine
    2 c. sugar
    4 egg yolks, beaten
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 1/2 c. cake flour
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. buttermilk
    4 egg whites, stiffly beaten
Preparation
    Melt chocolate in boiling water.
    Set aside to cool.
    Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
    Add egg yolks, one at a time.
    Beat well after each.
    Add vanilla and melted chocolate; mix until blended.
    Sift flour, soda and salt.
    Add flour alternately with buttermilk, beating after each addition until batter is smooth.
    Fold in egg whites.
    Pour batter into 3 (8 or 9-inch) pans.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 35 to 40 minutes.
    Cool and frost with Coconut-Pecan Frosting.
