1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. peanut butter
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 egg, well beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. soda
Preparation

Thoroughly cream the shortening, peanut butter and sugars. Add the egg and vanilla, then beat the mixture well.
Add the sifted dry ingredients and mix it thoroughly.
Chill the dough, then form it into small balls on a cookie sheet and flatten them with a fork, making a crisscross pattern.
Bake at 375\u00b0 for 10 to 15 minutes.
