Golden Chicken Marengo - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 can tomato soup
    2 cans golden mushroom soup
    3 lb. chicken parts
    3 Tbsp. shortening
    1 large onion
    1 large clove garlic, minced
    6 large carrots, in round slices
    6 potatoes, halved
Preparation
    In large skillet, brown chicken in shortening.\tStir in all remaining ingredients.
    Cover and cook over low heat until tender, about 1 1/2 hours.\tStir occasionally.
