Smothered Steak - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 lb. round steak or equivalent, sliced into 1 1/2 to 2 inch strips
salt
pepper
garlic powder
flour
2 cans tomato sauce or 1 can each tomato sauce and stewed tomatoes
onion
bell pepper
1 can mushrooms
oil for frying
Preparation

Mix flour and seasonings together.
Coat meat that has been cut into strips.
In oil or butter, saute onion and pepper that have been cut into strips.
Add mushrooms.
Put vegetables aside and brown coated meat.
After cooking meat on both sides, reduce heat and add tomato sauce or stewed tomatoes (if desired).
Simmer until beef is thoroughly cooked and tender, 45 minutes to 1 hour.
Sauce should be fairly thick.
If it's not, you may add a small (1 to 2 tablespoons) amount of flour to thicken.
