Cherry Fruit Squares - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 sticks oleo or butter
    1 c. sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 eggs
    2 c. flour
    1 c. chopped walnuts
    1 can cherry pie filling
Preparation
    Cream butter, eggs, vanilla and sugar.
    Stir in flour.
    Add nuts last.
    Spread 3/4 of batter in a greased 13 x 9-inch pan. Cover with cherry pie filling.
    Drop remaining batter by spoonfuls on top and spread it around with a spatula.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 45 minutes.
    Cool and cut.
    Sprinkle with powdered sugar if desired. Other fruit toppings can be used (apple, blueberry).
