Cabbage And Apples - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 slices bacon, diced
    1 yellow onion, diced
    2 heads cabbage, shredded
    3 Granny Smith apples, quartered
    1/2 c. white wine
    1/2 tsp. caraway seed
    salt and pepper
    2 c. flour
    2 eggs
    1 tsp. salt
    about 1 c. milk
    2 Tbsp. bacon drippings
    Velveeta slices
    2 cans tomatoes, crushed and to which you have added salt, pepper and sugar to taste
Preparation
    Combine flour, salt, eggs and milk, making a thick batter. Fry in bacon drippings in a heavy skillet (do not use nonstick or coated skillets; cast-iron skillets work best).
    When browned on one side and beginning to set up, carefully cut in quarters and turn over batter to brown on the other side. When brown and completely set, begin cutting into small pieces, using two knives. Continue to fry until pieces are somewhat crunchy or are completely done. Serve immediately with slices of Velveeta cheese which you break into small pieces and put on top of the Dork and Under.
    Serve hot tomatoes over this.
    May also be served with cooked, crumbled bacon on top.
