Potatoes Au Gratin - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 clove garlic
    2 lb. potatoes, peeled and sliced
    1 c. grated Cheddar cheese
    1 c. milk
    1 egg
    pinch of nutmeg
    2 Tbsp. butter
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Rub bottom and sides of deep baking dish with garlic.
    Butter the dish well.
    Layer 1/2 potatoes, salt and pepper and half of cheese.
    Repeat layer.
    Beat egg into milk. Pour over potatoes.
    Sprinkle with nutmeg and a layer of cheese. Dot with butter.
    Bake about 1 hour.
