Rice Pudding - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 qt. milk
    1/2 c. rice
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 large egg
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Barely cover rice with cold water and simmer very slowly until rice absorbs all the water; the rice should only be partially cooked.
    Bring the quart of milk to a scald and blend partially cooked rice and milk together.
    Continue cooking very slowly until rice is thoroughly cooked.
