Date Loaf Candy - cooking recipe
Ingredients

4 c. sugar
1 c. milk
1 Tbsp. butter
pinch of salt
1 lb. dates, finely chopped
2 c. walnuts, chopped
Preparation

Combine sugar, milk, butter and salt in a heavy boiler and bring to a boil.
Boil a few seconds then add dates and cook over moderate high heat until mixture reaches soft ball stage.
Stir in walnuts.
Stir by hand until cool enough to handle.
Shape, on was paper,
into 2 ten inch long rolls 1 1/2 inch in diameter.
Cool until firm and slice 1/4 inch thick.
Keep refrigerated.
Yield 7 dozen.
