Buttermilk Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. butter
    2 c. buttermilk
    3 c. sugar
    5 c. flour
    4 eggs
    soda (enough to sweeten buttermilk)
    1 tsp. vanilla or lemon extract (optional)
Preparation
    Cream the butter with the sugar.
    Add 4 eggs, one at a time; beat well.
    Dissolve 1 teaspoon soda in 2 cups of buttermilk. Alternate additions of 5 cups sifted flour with buttermilk.
    One teaspoon of vanilla or lemon extract may be added to enhance flavor.
    Bake in a well-greased tube pan at 300\u00b0 for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
