Southern Pork Chops - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    8 loin pork chops (fat removed)
    5 Tbsp. fat or oil
    6 Tbsp. flour
    3 c. chicken broth
    salt and pepper to taste
    1/4 to 1/2 tsp. sage, if desired
    1/2 c. brown sugar or to taste
    3 Tbsp. vinegar or to taste
    4 red skinned tart apples (Jonathan are good), cut in half crosswise
    2 peeled medium to large onions, cut into 4 slices
    1/2 to 1 c. golden raisins
Preparation
    Brown chops in a little oil or margarine.
    Remove from skillet and render the cut off fat or use oil to make gravy with flour and broth (may be part water).
    Season with salt and pepper.
    Add sage, brown sugar and vinegar to taste.
    Place chops in a shallow baking pan.
    Top with onion slice and apple half which has been cored. Stuff cores with raisins and scatter some about.
    Pour gravy over all.
    Bake, uncovered, at 325\u00b0 for 45 minutes.
    Add liquid, if necessary, and bake for 45 minutes more, covered.
    Makes 8 servings.
