Maple Bars - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. soft shortening
    1/2 c. maple syrup
    1 egg
    2/3 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. chopped nuts or coconut
    1 c. rolled oats
Preparation
    Heat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Grease an 8 x 8-inch pan.
    Mix all ingredients thoroughly. Spread in prepared pan. Bake 30 to 35 minutes. Cut into squares while warm.
