Ingredients

2 c. sugar
1 c. shortening
4 eggs
1 tsp. coconut flavoring
1 c. buttermilk
2 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. chopped pecans
1 c. coconut (fresh or other)
Preparation

Cream sugar and shortening.
Beat in eggs one at a time.
Add flavoring, buttermilk and sifted dry ingredients.
Fold in nuts and coconut.
Bake in a greased and floured tube pan for 1 hour and 20 minutes at 325\u00b0.
After pouring syrup over cake, let cake remain in pan 24 hours or overnight.
