Green Tomato Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 lb. small green tomatoes
    2 c. hydrated or sliced lime
    2 gal. water
    1 qt. vinegar
    4 c. sugar
    1/8 tsp. salt
    1 Tbsp. whole mixed pickling spices
Preparation
    At end of cooking time, remove tomatoes from this solution and continue to cook liquid down to a slightly thick syrup.
    Pack tomatoes into sterilized jars, cover with syrup and seal.
