Turtle Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 German chocolate cake mix
    1 (14 oz.) bag caramels
    3/4 c. butter or margarine
    1/2 c. evaporated milk
    1 c. chocolate chips
    1 c. chopped nuts
Preparation
    Prepare cake mix according to package. Pour half of the batter into greased 9 x 13 pan. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 15 to 20 minutes. Meanwhile, melt caramels with butter and milk over low heat. Poke holes in baked cake. Pour caramel mixture over top of cake, then sprinkle with chocolate chips and nuts. Pour remaining batter over all and bake for 20 to 25 minutes more. Serve with whipped topping or ice cream.
