Gumdrop Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. shortening
    1 c. white sugar
    1 c. brown sugar
    4 eggs, unbeaten
    1 c. dates, cut up
    1 c. nuts, cut coarse
    1 c. small gumdrops
    1 c. raisins
    1 tsp. salt
    2 tsp. cinnamon
    2 tsp. nutmeg
    2 tsp. allspice
    2 tsp. soda
    2 c. applesauce
Preparation
    Cream the sugar and shortening. Add eggs, one at a time, and beat well. Sift spices and flour well together. Add to creamed mixture.
    Add soda to applesauce and add to mixture last with gumdrops and fruit which have been added to part of the flour.
    To keep moist, set a container of water in oven while baking. Bake at 350\u00b0 for at least 1 hour. This makes a big cake.
    I bake it in a Bundt pan.
